Introducing Grand Junction Chiropractor Dr. Christopher Angello
"I didn’t experience a miracle, but I’ve seen them," says Dr. Angello. One case in particular was a gentleman who had been dealing with horrific low back pain for over 20 years. He had several different surgeries and numerous therapists work on him over the years. When he walked into my office, it was with the assistance of a walker and he could not stand erect for very long. After the completion of his initial relief care in our office (about 6 weeks later) the patient called me after he had a follow up visit with his family doctor, and he reported to me his doctor could not believe he was walking without his walker. The following week his doctor referred me their mother for treatment.
I was adjusted for the first time by a chiropractor when I was about 10 years old, my mother worked for Dr. Gary in New York at the time. I did not realize I was going to be a chiropractor until my senior year at the University of South Florida. I was a chemistry major and did a work study class where I worked in a local chiropractic office eight hours a week and kept a journal on my experiences. I realized during that semester that I wanted to be a chiropractor. I couldn't wait to go to work in Dr. Burns' office each day. Just shadowing him I could feel the immense positive energy that was put out in his office. That feeling, the feeling of helping others get out of pain and stay out of pain was exhilarating for me, and I knew then, that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I graduated from the University of South Florida (Go USF Bulls!!!) in 1997 with a Bachelor's in Chemistry. While attending USF I was involved in undergraduate research, I was a tutor in the chemistry department, played rugby for the USF rugby club, and I held different levels of office with the USF American Chemical Society (elected treasurer my junior year, and elected president my senior year). As there were many memorable aspects of my education at USF, my most memorable was the inspiration I had received from my instructor and student advisor Dr. Stanko. I personally thank him for all of his help and positive influences he instilled onto me while I was enrolled at USF. I attended Life University for my doctor of chiropractic program. While there I also enrolled in a Masters of Sports Health Science program along with the chiropractic program. The extra course work was very challenging, and complimented the chiropractic program quite well. I graduated with my doctor of chiropractic designation in December 2001. By February 2002, I was practicing in Grand Junction, Colorado, and have been here ever since.
Our practice utilizes decompressional traction with many of our patients. It has incredible benefits for spinal health, as it aids in disc rehydration (see the section on Decompressional Traction for more info). Since incorporating decompressional traction into our therapy options, we have seen major improvements in patients whom before, there was very little we would have been able to do. Decompressional traction can compliment most of our patients care plans.
Outside of the office, I enjoy being with my lovely wife and children. We take advantage of the local activities in the Grand Junction area, as well as traveling around to other areas of Colorado and Utah to take part in activities in those areas. We like hiking, biking, going to museums, plays, and just going to the park and playing.
I personally get adjusted about two times a week. My wife, Shantelle, gets adjusted about three times a week. She is a massage therapist, and that line of work is extremely rewarding for her, however, it is also very physically demanding. Keeping her in proper alignment keeps her in tip top shape for her clients. Our children also get checked and adjusted regularly.
